Assignment Repository Analytics
Pawtograder provides comprehensive analytics for assignment repositories, allowing instructors to monitor student engagement, track commit activity, and identify students who may need additional support.
Accessing Repository Analytics
Navigate to an assignment and select the Analytics tab to view repository activity metrics for all students.
Available Metrics
Commit Activity
Track the number of commits made by each student or group to their assignment repository. This helps identify:
- Students who are actively working on the assignment
- Students who may have started late or need encouragement
- Patterns of work distribution in group assignments
Repository Access Patterns
Monitor when students are accessing and working on their repositories to understand:
- Peak activity times
- Last activity timestamps
- Overall engagement levels
Group Activity Distribution
For group assignments, analytics show individual contribution patterns within each group, helping instructors:
- Identify uneven workload distribution
- Recognize students who may not be participating
- Facilitate conversations about team dynamics
Using Analytics for Student Support
Repository analytics can help instructors proactively support students by:
- Early intervention: Identify students with low activity before the deadline
- Office hours planning: Reach out to students who appear stuck or inactive
- Group dynamics: Address imbalances in group work contributions
- Deadline extensions: Make informed decisions about extension requests based on activity patterns
Combine repository analytics with autograder results to get a complete picture of student progress. High commit activity with low test pass rates may indicate students who are struggling and need help.
